Andrea Muroto began working at Speaker Law Firm in August 2016 as a law clerk. After becoming a licensed attorney, she was thrilled to continue seeking justice for wronged clients and their families at Speaker Law.
Andrea earned her juris doctor magna cum laude (with great honor) from Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School in January 2018. One of the top students in her class, Andrea was awarded Certificates of Merit in the following classes: Appellate Advocacy/Moot Court, Business Organizations, Civil Procedure I, Civil Procedure II, Constitutional Law I, Equities and Remedies, Family Law, International Legal Advocacy Skills, Law Practice: Transitioning to Practice, Personal and Professional Responsibility, Pretrial Skills, Property II, Research and Writing, Secured Transactions, and Trial Skills. She also received the Ralph M. Freeman Scholarship, the WMU-Cooley Honors Scholarship, the WMU-Cooley Alumni Association Distinguished Student Award, the WMU-Cooley Leadership Award, the WMU-and the WMU-Cooley President’s Achievement Award.
Andrea participated in two national competitions: the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition and the Stetson National Pretrial Competition, in which she was a semifinalist. She also won both the Intra-School Mock Trial Competition and the Intra-Class Moot Court Competition. She was a member of the WMU-Cooley Law Review, the Alternative Dispute Resolution Executive Board, and Chairman of the Mock Trial Board. She helped tutor her fellow students by working as a Teaching Assistant for Research and Writing and a Graduate Assistant at WMU-Cooley’s Academic Resource Center.
Prior to attending law school, Andrea earned her bachelor’s degree in political science summa cum laude (with highest honors) from Loyola University Chicago. She also served as an intern for the Honorable Michael J. Baumgartner in the 34th Circuit Court and at the Cook County Public Defender’s Office.
Andrea is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan, the Appellate Practice Section of the State Bar of Michigan, the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, the Children’s Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, the Animal Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, the Ingham County Bar Association, the Young Lawyers Section of the Ingham County Bar Association, the Women’s Lawyers Association of Michigan, the WMU-Cooley Alumni Association, and Attorneys for Animals.
Originally from Houghton Lake, Michigan, Andrea currently resides in Lansing with her husband, Geforey Muroto Bilabaye, and their cat, Maggie Mae.
