Speaker Law Firm is the only law firm in Michigan that works exclusively on appeals. We need to add a great person to our team in the position of Paralegal. We are a dynamic and growing law firm and a candidate for this position must be smart, hardworking and have a great personality. Thinking-ahead to assist the legal team to be as productive as possible and caring about the firm’s relationship with our clients is both good business and second nature for the candidate we are seeking.

You should be able to demonstrate good judgment, the ability to prioritize your activities with minimal supervision and coordinate cheerfully with your fellow team members, other attorneys, and court employees.

The regular work schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Drafting legal documents for Attorneys (Claim of Appeal, Docketing Statement, etc.)
  • Ordering transcripts and Register of Actions.
  • Completing e-filings on MiFile - TrueFiling
  • Assisting Attorneys with getting briefs out the door (Assemble Table of Contents, Appendix, etc.)
  • Helping Attorneys calculate deadlines
  • Basic research and drafts simple motions (such as Motion to Extend, etc.)
  • Communicating with clients, courts, court reporters, opposing counsel, and trial counsel

Qualifications:

  • Experience as a legal secretary or assistant or paralegal
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree or Paralegal certificate
